Woman patient getting an adjustment

We are one of the few offices in North Iowa that solely applies the Gonstead Method.

Clear Lake Chiropractor Dr. Lane uses the Gonstead system of chiropractic to perform specific and scientific chiropractic adjustments in order to restore the body’s nervous system and allow it to recover and heal properly. As a team, we start this process by finding the root cause of your health concerns with NASA published state-of-the-art technology. We encourage total family health from pregnancy/newborns to seniors, with a special focus on pediatric chiropractic.

A Little About The Gonstead System

Gonstead procedures are the result of extensive clinical research by Clarence S. Gonstead, founder of the world famous Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin and his associates. Doctor Gostead’s fifty-five years of continuous practice and over four million chiropractic adjustments resulted in the most complete method of biomechanical analysis available for use by today’s doctors of chiropractic. After a complete neurological and structural analysis, the Gonstead chiropractor is ready to deliver a personalized adjustment. The focus of the Gonstead adjustment is to restore proper structure to the spinal curves, balance the autonomic nerve system, and increase adaptability.

Five Components To Access

1. VISUALIZATION

Visualization is a way to cross reference all the other findings. Our doctors are experts in looking for subtle changes in your structure and movement which could indicate any problems. When a nerve becomes irritated, the cellular tissues that the nerve controls also become irritated. The cellular tissues now work either too fast or too slow leaving the organ and muscle more vulnerable to sickness.

2. INSTRUMENTATION

The instrument of choice in the Gonstead System is the Nervoscope. The Nervoscope detects uneven distributions of heat along the spine which can be indicative of nerve pressure. This instrument is guided down the length of your back and feels like two fingers gliding down each side of your spine. The findings of instrumentation are always cross-referenced with the x-ray analysis. The instrumentation analysis is performed every visit.

3. STATIC PALPATION

This is simply the process of feeling (or palpating) your spine in the seated (or static) position. Feeling for the presence of swelling (or edema), tenderness and any abnormal texture or tightness in the muscles and other tissues of your back. A vertebral subluxation wreaks havoc not just in one part of the spine but in all parts of the spine.

4. MOTION PALPATION

This process involves feeling the spine while moving and bending it at various angles. This determines how easily or difficult each segment in your spine slides & glides in different directions. Life is motion, and everything we do in chiropractic is motion. Vertebral subluxations inhibit proper motion due to the body not being properly connected, and will lead to degenerative damage if not corrected.

5. X-RAY/SPINOGRAPHY

X-ray films enable our doctors to visualize the entire structure of your spine. This is helpful in evaluating structure, joint and disc integrity, vertebral misalignments and ruling out any pathological findings, or recent fractures that may be present or contributing to the patient’s condition. These full-spine radio-graphs are taken in the standing, weight bearing position to fully substantiate the examination findings. X-ray analysis allows the Gonstead chiropractor to be as specific as possible and eliminate all guessing when it comes to your care.
